No class!

I'm so happy today because we didn't have a class on our PE. Our PE for this semester is Arnis.
My classmate texted me just before I went to take a bath. She said that our teacher is not around. Therefore I can sit around all morning and post many blogs. Yehey! :)) Many of my classmates don't like our teacher because of his terrible english accent plus the boring and tiring sport, but for me it doesn't matter if your pronunciation is good or not as long as your teaching right. Moreover, I really want to learn a self-defense sport so I find this class interesting. Learning this kind of sports can help you defend yourself in times of needs.

So there, I shared something about my class, hope to see you soon. :)

What's the Deal?

Nowadays, people having DSLR cameras and with the use of many photo editors especially Adobe Photoshop are becoming instant photographers. But the truth is, owning one doesn't make you a professional photographer. For me the real profs are the ones who can capture an amazing picture with the use of old cameras with a negative film. Using this can evaluate the skills of the photographer. So what's the deal of taking pride in showing your photos that are only products of high quality cameras and with the magic of photo editors?

Close to Extinction

Another reaction paper for our film viewing. :)

Our planet is continually changing, causing habitats to be distorted. And the strongest forces that make this loss very hasty are human beings. Upon seeing the video during our film viewing, it made me realize that nearly every region of the earth has been affected by human activities. On our side, it is difficult for an individual to recognize the effects that we did. Especially to those who do not care about the environment. But looking on the bright side, many organizations in conserving the habitats are fast increasing.  In fact there are campaigns that are widely spread over the internet. Also, there were several nature reserves built to accommodate those species that doesn’t have their natural habitats anymore.

Through the video that I have seen, my heart was touched because of the few people that are spending their time in worrying and taking good care of the endangered ones. Others are risking their lives just to help these poor creatures. And through this, it made me think that we too can get involved in saving animals and can also help in conserving their habitats.

One of the most important ways to help threatened animals is to protect their habitats permanently in national parks, nature reserves and zoos. We can visit zoos and talk to the rangers to find out what are the best ways to help protect them and then later on apply these things. We can also tell our friends to participate and join some organizations in saving the threatened animals. Nowadays, these species really need our help to prevent extinction.

While writing this reaction paper, I then remembered the time when our family caught a migratory bird, a baby King Fisher. It happened when one of our helpers at home found this baby bird that fell down from one of our Mahogany trees. Its wings range about one and a half meter. We took care of it for a few weeks, but because its mother is worriedly flying over the blue sky, crying and screaming, we let the baby bird flew away right after he learned how to fly. Afterwards, I realized nothing can beat the kind of feeling of how a simple thing can make your heart smile.

Gentle Giants

Last January 5 on our Biology class, we had a film viewing and our teacher asked us to make a reaction paper. So here it is:

Butanding, or commonly known for Whale Shark. It is the biggest and the largest fish in the world with no known predators, except for humans, a peaceful and harmless creature. It is widely living in all tropical and warm-temperate seas. In addition, this creature is close to extinction.

My grandmother once told me that Butandings are swimming freely at their small town, somewhere in Bohol decades ago. She said that these creatures are many in number. But because of not having any proper guidance for the people in their place in caring for Butandings, its number went fast decreasing until it reached to the point that they didn’t saw any whale shark again. I was not convinced at that time about her story, but after she showed me a picture of her sitting at the back of the creature I was stunned but somehow heartbroken. Heartbroken to the fact that, this harmless creature was abused and was overexploited by human being.

In the video, while watching a whale shark swimming smoothly in the ocean made me react accordingly. Its graceful movement through the water made me wants to swim with it for the rest of my life. I then imagined what it feels like being swallowed with his gigantic mouth and what it looks like inside its stomach.

The town of Donsol in Albay is famous for its Butandings. It can help the town’s tourism grow, and yet we can’t stop people from seeing those precious ones. But the problem is, if we allow tourism develop and to ruin their habitat, it can lead to overexploitation. Maybe it will repeat the same thing that happened that my grandmother told me and the worst part is, we can no longer see how beautiful these gentle giants are. Also, in the video the people of Donsol are still fishing even though they are not allowed and still using prohibited fishing nets. If it still goes on, these factors might be the reason for the whale sharks to leave the area.

Generally, we all need tourism in our place for us to develop, however if this will be the reason for the whale sharks to extinct, then maybe we can say no to the fast growing tourism. We need to choose one, and we need to make the right choice.
